Trail Overview
Winding along the ridge between Cayuga and Seneca Lakes, the Backbone Trail offers a classic “big-sky” Finger Lakes ramble without the crowds. Expect gentle grades, long pasture views dotted with curious cows, and stretches of hushed mixed hardwood forest. With only ~550 ft of elevation change, it’s a pleasant half-day outing that still delivers that wide-open National-Forest feel.
