Jeney and I go to our local farmers market all the time. We grab food, check out the craft vendors, and bring friends and family along when they visit. When we head to other parts of the Finger Lakes, we look up the markets there too, and we kept wishing there was one place to check.
So I put one together. This guide covers every farmers market I could confirm is running around the Finger Lakes, more than 30 of them, sorted by lake so you can find yours. If I missed one, reach out and let me know! If you just want to know what’s open on a Saturday, there’s a by-day list right below.
Seasons are given in months, since exact dates shift a little every year. Every market here is also on the Finger Lakes Event Guide, which has this week’s dates. And before you drive anywhere, check the market’s own page. Weather happens, and small markets sometimes take a week off.

Where to start
I’d love for you to get to all of these eventually. But a 90-vendor Saturday on the waterfront and six tents on a church lawn are different kinds of trips, so here’s a way in depending on what kind of day you want.
Make a morning of it. These are the bigger markets, worth an hour or two of wandering.
- Ithaca, Saturday or Sunday at Steamboat Landing
- The Windmill in Penn Yan, 175+ shops on 40 acres
- Geneva, right on the lakefront
- Canandaigua, where everything is sold by the people who grew or made it
- Auburn, three days a week downtown
If you want to make a full day of it, pair one with a hike. I keep a list of trails worth the drive.
Grab dinner on the way home. Weekday markets that run into the evening.
- Seneca Falls, Tuesdays
- Trumansburg, Wednesdays, with live music every week
- Victor, Wednesdays
- Owasco, Wednesdays, with food trucks
- Ithaca at East Hill, Wednesdays
- Skaneateles, Thursdays
- Montour Falls, Thursdays
- Geneseo, Thursdays
Small-town stops. A handful of tents, and the person handing you the tomatoes probably grew them. Go for the conversation as much as the shopping.
- Freeville, Sunday midday on a school lawn, producers only
- Ovid, Saturday mornings
- Cincinnatus, at the Rural Services pavilion
- Lima, on a church lawn
- Homer, with something going on every week

Farmers Markets Around Cayuga Lake

Ithaca Farmers Market, Ithaca
In 2025, Newsweek readers voted Ithaca the best farmers market in the country, and I get why. It’s fun to walk, with a great mix: prepared food, produce straight from the farm, locally raised meat, crafts and more. The Saturday and Sunday markets are under the covered pavilion at Steamboat Landing, which helps a lot when the rain is coming down.
It’s a member-run co-op with more than 150 vendors across its market days, all from within about 30 miles. Wednesday at East Hill Plaza is smaller and more relaxed, and the vendors change week to week. The Saturday season closes with the Rutabaga Curl in December. After that, the market moves indoors to Triphammer Marketplace for the winter.
When: Saturdays, 9am to 3pm (10am to 2pm in November and December), April to mid-December · Steamboat Landing, 545 Third St, Ithaca
When: Sundays, 10am to 3pm (10am to 2pm in November), May to November · Steamboat Landing, 545 Third St, Ithaca
When: Wednesdays, 3pm to 6pm, May to October · East Hill Plaza, 330 Pine Tree Rd, Ithaca
Winter: Saturdays, 10:30am to 2pm, January to March (indoors) · Triphammer Marketplace, 2255 N Triphammer Rd, Ithaca
Size: about 90 vendors on a Saturday, 75 on a Sunday, 20-some on a Wednesday; 150+ member vendors in all

Most markets close by the end of October. These keep going.

- Canandaigua: every other Saturday, November to May, under the Mill Street Pavilion. It’s one hour, 10 to 11am.
- Baltimore Woods, Marcellus: the second Saturday of the month, November to April.
- Corning: Thursdays, November to March, indoors at the Bridge to Hope Center.
Good to Know
- Bring some cash. Bigger markets usually take cards, but smaller vendors may not.
- Go early for the best selection. Popular items can sell out at the busy markets. Some vendors mark things down near closing time, if you’d rather hunt for deals.
- Producer-only means something. At Canandaigua and Freeville, the person selling it grew it or made it. At bigger mixed markets like the Windmill, you’ll find crafters and shops alongside farmers. Neither is wrong, but it’s good to know which you’re walking into.
- Check before you go. Small markets skip weeks for holidays, heat and village events. The links on each card go to the market’s own page.
- Bring your own bags.

FAQ
When do Finger Lakes farmers markets open and close? Most open in May or June and run through October. A few go longer: Ithaca’s Saturday market starts in April and runs into December, the Windmill opens in mid-April and closes in late November, and Painted Post usually runs into November.
Are there farmers markets open on Sundays? Two. Ithaca, at Steamboat Landing, 10am to 3pm, May through November, and Freeville, 11:30am to 2:30pm, May into October.
Are there winter farmers markets in the Finger Lakes? Yes: Ithaca (indoors at Triphammer Marketplace, January to March), Canandaigua (every other Saturday, November to May), Baltimore Woods in Marcellus (second Saturdays, November to April), and Corning (Thursdays, November to March). See Winter Farmers Markets.
What’s the biggest farmers market in the Finger Lakes? The Windmill in Penn Yan has the most vendors, more than 175, but most of them sell crafts, food and home goods. If you mean farm food, it’s Ithaca: about 90 vendors on a Saturday, and more than 150 members across its four market days.
Do I need cash? It helps. Larger markets usually take cards, but smaller vendors may not, so bring some.
